Q: What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of the studio, I’m an avid reader and film lover! I tend to read primary sources in art history, specifically artist’s writings and interviews, but I also enjoy literature, poetry, and philosophy. I’m currently reading Mircea Cărtărescu’s Solenoid, Kant’s Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics, and Donald Judd’s writings. My favourite films as of late have been Mascha Schilinksi’s Sound of Falling, Godard’s Contempt, and Kenji Mizoguchi’s Sansho The Bailiff. Otherwise, I try to visit galleries and museums every weekend and have been taken by Douglas Rieger & Antonio Kuo’s recent two person show at Cooper Cole and the Jeff Wall retrospective at MOCA. On occasion I’ll build a new piece of furniture for my apartment and am currently working on a coffee table that will be made with cherry.
